My media writing toolbox

·         Associated Press Stylebook (2012 edition).  This is invaluable for anyone who writes news releases and public relations documents.  It is the most common used stylebook in the media arena.
·         Thesasarus or crossword dictionary. Do not leave this out of your box.  Either of these books are a great tool for word-smithing.
·         Google docs. This tool is great for you to upload documents into a “cloud” so other people can read it and make changes without emailing back and forth and getting the editions mixed up.
·         Wordle. This is my new favorite tool to spice a flyer or presentation up.  I learned about this through an Ashford University class last year.
·         Workflowy. A new organizational tool that can incorporate tagging assigning various items to different people. (Paradis, 2013).
·         Iceber.gs. A more inspirational tool that combines the best of Pinterest and Evernote. (Paradis, 2013).
·         WordPress.com. This is a hosted blogging service of immense popularity and it is free. (Glazowski, 2008).
·         Writer’s Network. A voluminous database of words and the writers behind them. It is free with tips, how-tos, and a way to have your work rated. (Glazowski, 2008).
